STD Testing

Sexually Transmitted Diseases are common. STD’s or STI’s (Sexually Transmitted Infections) are passed from one person to another through bodily fluids. The type(s) of testing you need will vary based on your risk factors. The experienced physicians at QuestCare Urgent Care help you determine which one(s) are right for you.

Be aware of common indicators, such as sores around private areas, growth on genital, pain while urinating or during intercourse, odd/smelly discharge from private areas (male or female), or unusual vaginal bleeding. However, symptoms are not entirely dependable. You may have been exposed to a disease and still feel perfectly healthy. Ask to be tested or request it along with your annual physical exam. As always, all lab results and conversations between physicians and all staff members are kept confidential.

Sexually transmitted diseases that we commonly test for are:

  • Chlamydia
  • Venereal disease
  • Gonorrhea
  • HIV
  • Herpes

You may be at risk for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea if:

  • You are having intercourse with multiple partners
  • You are a man having sex with men
  • You are diagnosed with HIV
  • You have been forced to have intercourse or engage in sexual activity against your will

Samples are gathered through a swab or urine test and sent to our on-site lab.  Symptoms are not an indicator that you have either infection. Our physicians examine the test results and give you an accurate diagnosis.

Request testing for HIV, syphilis and hepatitis if:

  • You test positive for another STI
  • You have had intercourse with more than one partner since your last test
  • You use IV drugs
  • You are a man having sex with men
  • You are pregnant or planning to become pregnant
  • You have been forced to have intercourse or engage in sexual activity against your will

Samples are taken by swab or blood sample.

If you have been diagnosed with an STD, your partner(s) should also be tested even if he or she exhibits none of the symptoms. Otherwise, you could be reinfected or develop serious complications. Our center is equipped to test other venereal diseases.
